PRODUCE AVAILABLE THIS WEEK AT THE MARKET

Greens:

  • Tuscan Kale;
  • perpetual spinach;
  • cauliflowers (only a few);
  • broccoli;
  • mini cabbages;
  • nettles.
Tuscan kale

Asian Vegetables:

  • pak choi;
  • Chinese cabbage
  • coriander.

Salads

  • mixed bags of small lettuces and winter salad greens.

Roots and stems:

  • fennel;
  • bunched baby orange carrots;
  • large rainbow carrots;
  • celeriac;

  • Delaware, dependable all rounder.

Pumpkin

  • Argentine pumpkin – our special heritage butternut variety.

Alternative options for obtaining your produce:

  1. Preorder and collect at the market. For small orders we will pack at the market and have them ready for collection after 9.30am. Submit your order by 5pm Friday. Payment can be made using ‘tap-and-go’ at the market, cash or bank transfer.
  2. Bulk orders. If you are collecting vegetables for friends and family this option may suit. Submit your order by Monday evening. Orders will be boxed and can be collected from Thursday afternoon at the farm or the market.

Summer vegetables galore at Bathgate Farm

At last the summer crops are in full production. Plenty of new lines to try at the market.

Tomatoes and other fruit

  • Heirloom varieties including beefsteaks – rouge de mamande, brandywine, black krim; Verona orange and ananas noir.
  • Salad varieties: money maker, juanne flamme, tigerella, zebras.
  • multi-coloured large cherry sized varieties,
  • Chillies:  jalapeno
  • Peppers: corno de rosso;
  • golden nugget squash;
  • eggplants – several types including Lebanese, ping tung long, Listada.
  • Pickling cucumbers

Potatoes:

New season early harvest potatoes.

  • Norland – pink skinned, round, white flesh, waxy. Ideal for boiling, salads, casseroles;
  • Delaware – white skin and flesh. Newly dug so more waxy than usual.

Stems and roots:

  • pickling size brown onion;
  • spring onions;
  • beetroot – large sized standard, golden, white and candy stripe and mangel wurzels;
  • radish

Greens:

  • Perpetual spinach, silver beet and ruby chard;
  • Tuscan kale (cavolo nero);
  • Bitter green salad mix;
  • Radicchio, frisee and scarole.

Asian Greens:

  • pak choy, green and white stem;
